Nova Scotia is a unique province with equally unique people living amongst its landscape. As of Oct 1, 2017, Nova Scotia now has a population of 957,600 people, according to Stats Canada. A province known for its delicious seafood, neighbourly hospitality and it’s recognizable coast line, Nova Scotia is also a melting pot of various cultures from across the world cohabitating in the maritimes. Even with such diversity, there is one thing that does not discriminate, and that is addiction– specifically, alcohol addiction. According to the Capital District Health Authority (CDHA), alcohol addiction is related to 230 deaths in Nova Scotia each year. Alcohol in Nova Scotia has become somewhat ubiquitous, engrained in the maritime culture over time. Searidge Foundation has the resources necessary to break the cycle and negative habits that alcohol addiction can cause.

SMART Recovery Meetings for Alcohol Addiction serving Yarmouth, Nova Scotia

“SMART Recovery is an abstinence-based, not-for-profit organization with a sensible self-help program for people having problems with drinking and using. It includes many ideas and techniques to help you change your life from one that is self-destructive and unhappy to one that is constructive and satisfying. SMART Recovery is not a spin-off of Alcoholics Anonymous. No one will label you an “alcoholic”, an “addict” “diseased” or “powerless”, and if you do not believe in a religion or spirituality, that’s fine, too. We teach common sense self-help procedures designed to empower you to abstain and to develop a more positive lifestyle. When you succeed at following our approach, you may graduate from the program, or you may stay around to help others.
